Confidentiality means protection against unauthorized disclosure of person-identifiable information or ‘data’ to unauthorized persons (sometimes called parties).

Keeping personal information confidential may encourage the formation of trust between health care provider, or researcher, and patient.

Make sure you are familiar with the regulations of your country regarding confidentiality.

It is the responsibility of everyone who handles confidential information to do so in a manner that is appropriate.
