At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • explain how the chapter relating to diseases of the eye and adnexa (the structures around the eye) is arranged
  • use the chapter to accurately code a range of diseases and conditions of the eye.

Chapter VII is one of the shortest chapters in the ICD-10. It has codes which represent diseases of the eye itself and also the structures which surround the eye, such as the lacrimal (tear) glands and ducts, the extraocular muscles (the muscles around the eye) and the eyelids.
